We caught up with Powwow punk rockers, 1876 band before they hit the stage in Nuwuvi land aka Las Vegas for Punk Rock Saves Lives last month. 1876 was formed in 2020 by Gabe Colhoff (Blackfoot & Northern Cheyenne) and quickly debuted the EP ‘Pow Wow Punk Rock’. Their sound is a wicked blend of punk rock and heavy powwow drumming born out of a dream of cultural and language resurgence being seen and produced by those who experience the hardships and triumphs of being born NDN. Gabe was born and raised in Portland, OR and has been sweating in sweat lodges and punk rock clubs since a young age. Late last year a live touring lineup was formed featuring (as shown below) Danny, Gabe, Mark, Joe, and Jake.
Gabe Colhoff (Blackfoot & Northern Cheyenne) is currently featured at The Punk Rock Museum! His one of a kind battle vest and ribbon shirt are currently on display at the world famous museum. Check the interview we did outside the venue, Hog & Heifers, in downtown Las Vegas on May 23, 2024.
We’ve had the pleasure of interviewing Gabe previously, you can check that out here:
Follow 1876 on Spotify and support their music! Thanks again to the band for taking the time out of their rad touring schedule to chat with us about all the good things going on for the band. Thanks for watching this IVMusic moment brought to you by Melissa Spence!
