Indigenous Vision was once again proud to be apart of another community beading circle on Nuwuvi Land, known today as Las Vegas. During the month of August community members showed up to learn, explore, and get hands on experience with beading! With the help of our two amazing instructors, Elder Yvonne and Melissa Pasadena, over two dozen attendees showed up to express themselves with various colors, patterns, and shapes.

Attendees began their projects on August 11th and we’re so excited to finish what they had started we had to schedule another class at the end of the month to complete our work. These classes were offered free of charge! Attendees were able to select from a wide variety of colors with the main design being a medallion. Although each beading circle was Indigenous led (Northern Cheyenne) there was a wonderfully diverse group of people coming together to learn about what beading is and how valuable it is to Indigenous Nations across Turtle Island. Indigenous Vision was proud to be a part of the potluck style event and is already looking forward to the next Halloween themed event happening in October.

If you’re going to be in the Las Vegas/Southern Paiute area in October, be sure to check back and join us! Thanks to everyone who made these circles possible; Her 38 Roses and Fifth Sun Project. It’s never too late to learn something new, especially when it comes to culture and crafts! See you soon.
